The event organized by the Asia Penny Farthing Association (APFA), held on June 30, celebrated the "28th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR Intergenerational Harmony Poon Choi Feast with a Thousand Persons." This memorable occasion successfully concluded with a lively display of Penny Farthing cycling. Members of the APFA showcased their skills by riding Penny Farthings ranging from 55 inches to 36 inches, neatly arranged to create an exciting atmosphere. The performance captivated the audience, and the appearance of the Penny Farthings electrified the venue, prompting community residents to eagerly take photos to commemorate the occasion.
Dr. April Fong, the founding president of the APFA, introduced the century-old sport of Penny Farthing cycling to Hong Kong last year. She hopes that the resilience and perseverance symbolized by cycling will encourage learners to embrace new challenges. This spirit aligns with the themes of "breakthrough," "fusion," and "heritage" embodied in the Poon Choi feast, reflecting the innovation and resilience of the people of Hong Kong.
After the performance, APFA members and community residents enjoyed Poon Choi together in a joyful and inclusive atmosphere, celebrating the spirit of Hong Kong’s return. Our association looks forward to making appearances at various platforms and events across Hong Kong to showcase the charm of Penny Farthing cycling. We anticipate organizing the first Penny Farthing Competition in Hong Kong—stay tuned for updates!
