Asia Penny Farthing Association Launch Ceremony(Click to view)

The launch ceremony of the Asia Penny Farthing Association was held on 16 November 2024, during the Kakato Festival at AIRSIDE, Kai Tak, Kowloon. This event marks the official introduction of the 19th Century bicycle culture movement to Hong Kong. During the ceremony, Founder Dr. April Fong, Honorary Presidents Mr. Carl Wong, Mr. Danial Bolwell and Mr. Simon Weir shared their founding experiences. They also shared their visions for promoting penny farthings, tips for riding them, and the enjoyment of this sport. Simon's entrance particularly ignited a passionate atmosphere among the attendees.

Dr. April hopes to introduce the sport to Hong Kong, raise public awareness, cultivate local athletes, organize competitions and train local elites to participate in overseas events. Ultimately, she aims to host international competitions locally and or promote penny farthing riding to other Asian countries and regions.
